The 36-page brochure, which will be distributed to all Thomson and First Choice shops from this month, is designed to help high street agents sell adventure holidays by highlighting some of the experiences available.
It is themed by holiday style and includes top five ideas for new adventurers, families and those interested in wildlife and the world’s most iconic sites.
Imaginative Traveller has also introduced a ‘5 for 1’ incentive scheme, which it claims is the most generous promotion of its kind ever offered by an adventure travel company.
For every five passengers booked onto any of the operator’s ‘adventurer’ or ‘traveller’ tours, agents will earn a free adventurer tour of up to 21 days, such as sailing down the Nile or following the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
In addition, those booking seven or more customers onto a tailor-made departure will also enjoy a free adventurer tour.
Finally, any agent booking ten passengers or more will be entitled to take a companion with them on their free trip.
Fay McCormack, sales manager for Imaginative Traveller and a former First Choice manager, said: ‘The face of travel is changing and people are increasingly looking to get off the beaten track and experience more than just a beach when travelling abroad.
‘The ‘A Passport to Adventure’ report by TUI Travel Adventure Companies in January this year predicted a 70% increase in participation in adventure travel over the next three years, making this a great time for agents to capitalise on the growing demand for a more active holiday.
‘And this is where our ‘50 must-do trips of a lifetime’ brochure comes in.
‘With over 600 tours and nearly 20 years’ experience of operating small group adventure holidays around the world, Imaginative Traveller is ideally placed to guide agents through the apparent maze of adventure tours in the market and provide ongoing support throughout the booking process.
‘We therefore hope that the combination of our brochure and new incentive scheme will inspire agents new to adventure travel to push their own booking boundaries and gain all-important first-hand experience in this fast-growing market.’
Established in 1991 and part of TUI Travel's Adventure division, Imaginative Traveller offers experiences and activities including mountaineering in Nepal, yak safaris in Mongolia and mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda.
