Aquis marks first anniversary with tenth hotel

10 Jul 2009
Aquis Hotels and Resorts has acquired two new hotels in Crete, taking its total portfolio to ten.

The latest additions are the Vasia Hotel & Spa, which will be renamed the Aquis Vasia Beach & Spa, and the Blue Sea Resort & Spa, to be known as Aquis Blue Sea Resort & Spa.

The Aquis Vasia Beach and Spa, offering 300 rooms, is located in the traditional fishing village of Sissi, around 45km from Heraklion.

The Aquis Blue Sea Resort & Spa, in the east of the island in Stalida, boasts 225 newly-renovated rooms, bungalows and suites, many with private swimming pools.

Rania Deimezi, Aquis marketing manager, said: ‘We are delighted to expand our portfolio into Crete.

‘Here at Aquis we strive to offer quality service and terrific value at all levels and we believe these two new properties will fit well with our existing hotels in Corfu and Kos.’

Set up a year ago by John Kent, the group’s senior team includes HH Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Saeed Al Nahayan of Abu Dhabi (chairman), David Howell (vice chairman) and Panagiotis Katsaridis (managing director).

Aquis has already attracted agreements with leading European tour operators thanks to its ‘high growth prospects, unique properties and high-quality service’.

In addition to the two new properties the group’s portfolio comprises: Aquis Pelekas Beach, Aquis Agios Gordios Beach, Aquis Sandy Beach Resort and Aquis Corfu Holiday Palace in Corfu; Aquis Marine Resort & Waterpark in Kos; and Aquis Bella Beach, Aquis Silva Beach and Aquis Zorbas Village in Crete.

It is actively seeking other properties, in line with its strategy to become ‘a recognised brand in major travel destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean’.
