Expedia reveals global plan

14 May 2009
Expedia plans to expand into two new markets each year as part of its commitment to build a global leisure brand.

Speaking at an e-tid Breakfast Briefing this morning, Expedia Europe vice president and managing director Mikael Andersson said Russia and Korea are two markets that are particularly of interest.

Andersson also said 300 UK agent affiliates have signed up to Expedia, and the UK site will shortly feature reviews from Expedia-owned TripAdvisor.

Heinrik Kjellberg president, Expedia Affiliate Network, said 11% of global revenue is generated by advertising on Expedia.

The Breakfast Briefing, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Travelport, was moderated by Advantage chief executive John McEwan.
