Families boost adventure bookings

01 Dec 2009
The Adventure Company is reporting a 79% year-on-year rise in family holiday bookings over the past two months.

Managing director Claire Wilson said: ‘Our figures show that people are ready to travel again in 2010 – perhaps because they now have greater job security.’

Forward bookings for July 2010 are up 163% on this time last year.

Winter getaways for the 2009/10 season are also selling well, with Egypt, Jordan, Bulgaria and Slovakia the most popular destinations.

Elsewhere, family travel website takethefamily.com is campaigning for a change in the law to make the current entitlement of ten days off school during term-time for children a legal right, instead of being offered at the head teacher’s discretion.
