Kuoni’s UK bookings fall 30%

21 Apr 2009
The Kuoni Group’s tour operating business is down 23% year-on-year as at 12 April 2009 in Swiss franc terms or 12% in local currency.

This is a slight improvement on booking figures published in mid-March, Kuoni said in an AGM statement issued today.

‘The upward trend is attributable to a growing tendency among consumers to book later and at shorter notice,’ the group added.

‘Kuoni’s booking levels also remain severely depressed by negative currency movements.’

The group’s UK bookings fell by 30% in Swiss franc terms or 11% in sterling over the same period.

This compares with declines of 15% in Switzerland and 29% (24% in local currency) elsewhere.
