Sky adds Expedia/TripAdvisor content

29 Jan 2008
Sky’s new travel portal is to feature Expedia Distribution’s white label booking engine together with consumer reviews from Expedia Inc’s TripAdvisor.

In addition to Expedia’s full service booking system offering city breaks, flights, hotels and car hire, users of the main Sky.com portal and its new travel site sky.com/travel will have access to the five most recent TripAdvisor reviews on featured hotels, which will be updated daily.

Visitors to Sky Travel will land on a page featuring tailored offers and a full travel search functionality. From here, they will gain access to the full range of Expedia and TripAdvisor services that have been tailed for the Sky sites.

Andy Jonesco, managing director online business unit for BSkyB, commented: ‘We want to work with those travel partners like Expedia who have innovative and distinctive travel offers as well as the content that travellers value.

‘We are excited to have reached this agreement, which sees us become the first to integrate both Expedia and TripAdvisor services into a full service travel portal.’

Expedia Distribution senior vice president, David Roche, added: ‘Expedia and TripAdvisor have combined to offer Sky customers a unique way of accessing our award-winning travel tools and content, in an agreement that is the first of its kind in the UK.

‘This new partnership highlights both the strength of Expedia Distribution’s combined offering and the flexible way in which we can adapt this to our partners’ needs.’

Expedia Distribution was formerly known as Expedia Private Label.
