Research reveals GetThere/Sabre savings

22 Sep 2009
Corporations using Sabre-owned online booking tool GetThere along with the Sabre GDS could make a 285% return on investment over three years.

An independent study by Forrester Consulting compared the travel data of four corporations, both before and after the joint deployment of GetThere on Sabre.

The four unnamed companies were a global investment banking firm, a European technology provider, a North American communications services firm and a large US commercial bank.

The statistics gleaned from the firms were used to create a composite multi-national company with an annual air spend of £43m.

The study found the ROI for the composite company would be 285% over three years, breaking even within the first quarter after implementation.

The adoption rate leaps from 50% to 80% by the end of the first year of implementation, with average transaction fees reduced by 50%.

Savings were achieved because travel policies were more strictly enforced via on the online booking tool and there was greater availability and more prices on the Sabre global distribution system (GDS).

The companies were able to reduce staffing by the cost of two full-time equivalents.

The study stated: ‘The higher the air-travel spend of an organisation, the higher the ROI associated with the implementation of GetThere on the Sabre GDS.’

The Forrester findings reflect other results about GetThere and Sabre: one study by independent research group Topaz International revealed that, compared with all other GDSs, Sabre found the lowest available fare four times more often and provided average savings of 20% per ticket in the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

GetThere is a Sabre Holdings brand that works with all major global distribution systems.
