Initially the content is available in the UK, France and Italy, with plans to introduce it to other markets in Europe and the Middle East in the coming months.
Galileo Leisure users can make, cancel and amend bookings online, and use the youtravel.com services such in-resort representation and customer services.
Olaf Gueldner, Travelport GDS’s Europe managing director and president, said agents can now access a wide range of beach resort hotels, in addition to the city hotel content provided by GTA on the GDS.
‘We are always looking for new ways to help our agency customers increase their revenue streams at a time of reduced commissions,’ he added.
Graham Nichols, group managing director of youtravel.com, said of the deal: ‘It is another step in cementing our position as a truly pan-European accommodation-only provider.’
Youtravel.com features more than 3,000 hotels in popular destinations throughout Europe, and well as North Africa, Florida, Dubai and the Caribbean.
Nichols joined youtravel.com in April 2008 from Worldspan where he was vice president of its international business covering EMEA and Asia. He had held the position for six years until the merger with Travelport, which now operates both Galileo and Worldspan GDSs.
